Oklahoma Medical Sharps Collection Infrastructure Expansion Project
PSI and the Advisory Committee, with DEQ grant support, will provide five $2000 stipends to Oklahoma communities for sharps take-back programs. The Goals of this project are as follows:
a) Increase collection infrastructure and services for safe sharps take-back in communities that need it.
b) Educate the public about the importance of safe sharps take-back and how to manage used sharps.
c) Establish best practices for community sharps collection in Oklahoma.
d) Expand and improve Oklahoma’s community guide to developing safe sharps take-back programs.

Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality Annual Grant Application
Annual Funding Opportunity: The grant application is open from December 1st through February 28th. This includes opportunities for municipalities, political subdivisions, higher education systems, local and statewide organizations, and non-profit organizations to apply for funding. Types of grants include collection event grants, equipment grants, and professional service grants. Grants typically range between $1,000 and $50,000.
New for FY2025: DEQ Sharps Management Grant
Funding may be used to support better disposal options for used medical sharps, including: purchased materials related to collection (kiosks, totes, containers), pay for disposal services, and event/site preparation (education and outreach, advertising).
